We were thrilled when Usyd BoulderSoc reached out to us to design and supply shirts for their annual BoulderBash competition. This exciting event is a full day pumpfest, concluding in the highly anticipated finals. It's one of the standout competitions organised by bouldering societies across universities in Sydney, and this year, the event saw an impressive turnout of over 200 participants. The energy and enthusiasm at BoulderBash were contagious, making it a highlight in the bouldering community's calendar.
For the shirt design, we collaborated closely with the Usyd exec team, drawing inspiration from their pre-existing logo and color scheme. Our goal was to create a design that not only matched the event’s vibrant atmosphere but also resonated with the diverse group of climbers who would be wearing it. We wanted something that would capture the spirit of the competition and reflect the passion, energy, and fun of the event.
After a bit of brainstorming, we decided on a unique comic-style design. Each individual panel of the design emulated a different pose, showcasing the variety and excitement of bouldering. From dynamic action shots to relaxed, playful vibes, the design aimed to capture the essence of the competition — a blend of intensity, community, and the joy of climbing. The comic style not only added a sense of fun but also created a visual connection to the culture of bouldering, making the shirt a piece that participants could proudly wear both during and after the event.
